Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I save a spot?
There are a few ways:
Tap the large button on the home screen. Your location is saved instantly, no extra steps required.
Tap on the camera button and take a photo. It will save a pin to your map.
Long press anywhere on the map to create a pin at that spot.
Q: How do I add notes to a spot?
Press and hold the main button instead of tapping. This opens the detail screen where you can add photos, notes, tags and categories.
You can also locate your spot from the list view or map view, and open the pin to edit from there.
Q: Where are my spots stored?
With a ShotSpot account, pins are stored both locally and in the cloud by default, but this can be changed at any time by editing a pin’s storage settings.
Q: Will I lose my spots if I delete the app?
You may, only if you do not have a ShotSpot account or if you have chosen to store your pins only locally. I recommend signing up for an account and storing your locations on the cloud to prevent this. It’s free and easy!
Q:The app isn't finding my location. What do I do?
Go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services → ShotSpot and make sure it's set to "While Using."
Q:How do I delete a spot?
Open the pin from your map or list and scroll to the bottom, then select delete. You can also delete spots from the list view by swiping them to the left and selecting the red trash can icon, or by selecting all the spots you want to delete and mass-deleting them.
